An experimental short film by Ben Llwyd that looks through an arched eyebrow at a future Tyddewi (St Davids). The protagonist Alltud (Exile) arrives in a not-too-distant future to find himself the last speaker of Cymraeg in a tourist town of second homes.
Both the title and the theme are taken from Islwyn Ffowc Elis’s cautionary sci-fi novel Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd / A Week in Future Wales (1957), in which a sceptical time traveller arrives in a thriving, utopian Wales in 2033, only to return and find a dystopian landscape dominated by forestry plantations, violent social unrest, and state repression. The novel carries the message that the future is not predetermined and that the choices we make today will shape future Wales.
